The questionable interaction with Delhi Police personnel recently is among a long list of controversies courted by self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa.

A couple of years ago, the Mumbai Police had booked Radhe Maa for dowry harassment after a 32-year-old woman had accused the godwoman of instigating her in-laws — her followers for many years — to demand dowry from her.

Her long list of controversies include everything from charges of obscenity to hurting religious sentiments and intimidation.

In addition to the registered cases, there have been other allegations too.

Violating rules

Last year, she had carried a trishul on a Jet Airways flight from Aurangabad to Mumbai in violation of rules laid down by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security after which an FIR was registered against her.

In the past, her trusted aides have been accused of running several rackets.

At 23, she became a disciple of Mahant Ram Deen Das of 1008 Paramhans Bagh Dera Mukerian, in Hoshiarpur district.

It was from the Mahant that she got the title of Radhe Maa, meaning ‘Mother Radha’. Chhoti Maa, one of her closest followers, monitors all activities that happens around her.

Radhe Maa is known to kiss and hug her devotees, and has faced charges of obscenity.
