New diocese in Gurgaon

The Malankara Syrian Catholic Church will be inaugurating a new diocese in Gurgaon on Friday which will be the new administrative and spiritual headquarters for all its members in the 22 States that comprises the north and eastern region of India.

The inauguration will be done at a public meeting at the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Neb Sarai which will be attended by Minister of Defence Manohar Parrikar and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The new diocese of Gurgaon will be handing over a cheque at the function to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund in aid of the people affected by the earthquake in Nepal.

The new diocese has plans to continue and expand the activities of the Church in Delhi that undertakes several social activities under the umbrella of Prachodana Social Service Society that includes distribution of food for the hungry, clothes, and providing education.
