An eight-year-old Class IV student has been allegedly raped by a 15-year-old neighbour in Dwarka’s Dabri, the police said on Saturday. The accused was apprehended on Saturday, they said.
A senior police officer said that the complainant approached the police along with her mother four days ago at Dabri police station and reported the incident.
“The minor girl said she was sexually assaulted by the accused around 15 days ago. He allegedly threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident, but the girl gathered the courage and informed her mother about it four days ago,” the officer said.
The police said that the accused was then called by the victim’s family and was thrashed after which he fled the area. However, with the help of human intelligence, he was apprehended on Saturday, they added.
The accused’s parents live in a village in Uttar Pradesh and he had come to Delhi to study. He lived here with his relatives who live in the same area as the victim.
A case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the POCSO Act has been registered and the victim is currently being counselled, the police added.
