Bollywood singer Mika Singh was momentarily placed under arrest before being released on bail for allegedly slapping a doctor at an event in Inderpuri two months ago.
The police said Mika had been served several notices to join the investigation in the case.
“He was served a fresh notice on Wednesday after it was learnt that he was in the Capital to perform at an event. He was directed to reach the Inderpuri police station by 3 p.m. on Thursday,” said a senior police officer. Mika was put under arrest when he arrived and was released after he furnished a personal bond of Rs. 5,000.
When asked why he had not made himself available earlier, Mika told the police that he was mostly abroad for different events in the past two months after the complaint was filed by 27-year-old Shrikanth from Secunderabad.
Shrikanth was slapped by Mika at a concert organised at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) on April 11. Shrikanth is a third-year PG student of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital’s ophthalmology department.
