A massive fire broke out at a four-storey rexine godown in west Delhi’s Peera Garhi in the early hours of Monday. Three firemen sustained injuries, the fire department said.
A fire official said that a call was received at 12.25 a.m. regarding a fire at a godown opposite to Ram Leela ground in Peera Garhi, adding that 25 fire tenders were pressed into service.
“The fire was brought under control in a few hours but the cooling-off operation took time,” he said.
The official said that the rear portion of the building collapsed following the blaze at 2.30 a.m. in which three fire officials — fireman Samarthlal Meena and fire operators Parvesh and Dharamveer — sustained minor injuries. They were sent to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment, he said.
The department said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
