A 25-year-old man was found dead in Dwarka’s Jafarpur Kalan on Thursday morning, the police said. They have registered a murder case and begun a probe.

A senior police officer said that the victim has been identified as Vikram alias Vicky, a resident of Isapur village.

“The police control room received a call around 9 a.m. regarding a person lying dead on a street. When the police reached the spot, they found that he was murdered. The body had a injury on the head,” the officer said, adding that the body was then sent for a post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the body was found near the house of a man who was an acquaintance of the victim. Steel tumblers were also found from the spot.

“It is suspected that the victim and his acquaintance were drinking together on Wednesday night. A fight might have ensued between the two leading to the murder. However, the exact sequence of events will become clear once the accused is arrested,” the officer said.

The police have picked up one person for questioning in connection with the case.
