A man (28) was stabbed to death in north-east Delhi’s Seelampur on Thursday night, the police said on Friday. The accused had been identified and is absconding, they said.

Waqar, a craftsman, was allegedly stabbed by one Akash (22) following a scuffle between the two. Both hail from Seelampur.

DCP(North-East) Atul Thakur said, “The argument turned violent and they started hitting each other, after which Akash stabbed Waqar with a sharp object.” Waqar was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The police have registered a case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC. “A lot of people were present at the spot. Two persons have been detained for questioning ,” the officer said.

The reason that led to their fight is unclear, with people coming up with different versions, the police said. Waqar had two criminal cases registered against him.
