Three men have been arrested for allegedly shooting a 25-year-old man in outer Delhi’s Nihal Vihar in the early hours of Thursday, the police said on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Vikas Yadav, a worker at a chemical factory.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Rajendra Singh Sagar said Vikas was allegedly shot dead by Anil Chaudhary, who suspected the victim was having an extramarital affair with his wife for nearly a year. The two other accused, identified as Bakil Khan and Kamrul Huda, allegedly robbed the victim after he was shot dead.
The police had received a call from a private hospital around 3.30 a.m. on Thursday regarding a man who was brought dead by his relatives. His two mobile phones and ₹15,000 were also found missing, the police said.
Footage from CCTV cameras led to the identification of Anil and he was arrested. He told the police during interrogation that he suspected his wife of having an affair with Vikas and wanted to eliminate him.
The CCTV recording also led the police to Bakil and Kamrul, who were seen fleeing with Vikas’ belongings, Mr. Sagar said.
The police claimed to have recovered a countrymade pistol, a spent cartridge, five cartridges and three mobile phones from the accused.
