A man allegedly killed his wife and three children in Ghaziabad and posted a confession video on the family WhatsApp group, the police said on Sunday. He was upset after he lost his job.

They said a manhunt has been launched for the accused.

Sumit Kumar, a software engineer, lived in a flat in Indirapuram with his wife Ashu Bala and three kids — one aged five and twins aged four. His wife worked at a private school here, the police said.

Shlok Kumar, SP (City), Ghaziabad, said he slit the throats of the victims with a sharp object.

Confession video

“In the confession video that he sent to his brother-in-law, Sumit said he gave laced drinks to the victims before the murder. The accused also said he would end his life. We have sent teams to look out for him,” the officer said.

The police arrived on the spot after his brother-in-law informed them.

‘Change in behaviour’

“We had to break open the door as it was locked from outside The family members said Sumit had lost his job a couple of months ago and since then his behaviour was erratic. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.” the officer added.
