A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing another over a brawl regarding playing cards in a park in Aman Vihar, the police said on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) S.D. Misra said Sandeep alias Narender from Rohini, Sector 20, has been arrested for allegedly gunning down Kuldeep alias Kallu on May 7. The police said they received a PCR call regarding a firing incident around 7 p.m.

On reaching the spot, Kuldeep’s friend Sachin allegedly told them that they were going towards Mange Ram park when two men — Sandeep and Chand — came to the spot on bikes.

“They stopped us after which an argument broke out. Sandeep then took out his countrymade pistol and fired at Kuldeep after which the two accused fled the spot,” Mr. Misra said.

On Sunday evening, the police said they received a tip-off that Sandeep would come to Rohini Sector 3 and is also in possession of a countrymade pistol after which a trap was laid and he was arrested.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that Kuldeep had thrashed Sandeep several times for playing cards in the park.

‘To avenge humiliation’

“In order to avenge his humiliation, he procured a countrymade firearm with the help of his accomplice Chand and started looking for Kuldeep and on May 7, when he saw the victim, he shot him,” Mr. Misra said.
