Man held for smuggling costly phones, watches

A man was arrested at the IGI Airport in Delhi upon his arrival from Hong Kong for allegedly smuggling high-end phones, watches and track suits among other items worth ₹20 lakh, Customs officials said on Sunday.

The passenger, who arrived from the Special Administrative Region of China at IGI Terminal-3 on Wednesday, was intercepted by Customs officials.

A detailed personal and baggage search resulted in the recovery of 27 mobile phones, 330 watches of different brands and 20 track suits among other commercial goods worth ₹20 lakh

The goods were seized and he was arrested under relevant provisions of the Customs Act. During questioning, he confessed to have smuggled commercial items worth ₹85 lakh since October 2017.
