A 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly running over two fruit sellers in Dwarka on Sunday night. The accused was held from Dwarka on Tuesday night, they said.
A senior police officer said Nakul, a resident of Palam Colony, was driving the offending car. Initial interrogation stated that he owns a hotel in the city. He was drunk at that time, said sources.
Hiding in Dwarka
“He was hiding in Dwarka but he was not found at his residence. The car was recovered on his instance,” the officer said.
The police had obtained a list of about 4,000 cars of the make, the logo of which was found near the accident spot. Two to three vehicles were found in the area after which the owners were questioned.
The police finally reached Nakul, who was found absconding with the vehicle.
On Sunday night, Sarvesh Singh Yadav was killed and his friend Inder sustained injuries when they were hit by a speeding vehicle in Dwarka Sector 9
Both the victims from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri were residing in Dwarka Sector 7 and worked for a contractor at ₹500 a day.
Inder’s family claimed that his condition is serious and the doctors “have not given a clear picture on whether he will survive”.
