A man accused of murdering his wife’s paramour was arrested on Tuesday, the police said.

Sajjan Paswan was found dead in his neighbour Vinod Shah’s house on Sunday.

The police said Vinod and Kajal were caught at the Old Delhi railway station just as they were about to board a train to Bihar.

Vinod told the police that he woke up on Sunday night, and found Kajal and Sajjan in compromising position. Infuriated, he picked up a brick lying on the floor and hit Sajjan on the head. Vinod fled with his wife and child. The family lived in a rented accommodation in Mahendra Park.

“Vinod worked as a labour in a vegetable market. He had been living in Delhi with his family since the past 10 years,” said a police officer.

“Sajjan had called Kajal late on Sunday to enquire about her husband’s whereabouts. She told him that Vinod was sleeping next to her but Sajjan insisted on meeting her anyway. Kajal and Sajjan were eventually caught in compromising position by Vinod,” said the officer.

The police said Vinod has been arrested for murder.

Sajjan was a wholesale vegetable dealer at Azadpur market. He is survived by his wife Krishna and three sons.
