In a suspected case of honour killing, a 30-year-old man was found dead in his flat in Shramik Kunj of Sector 93 on January 19 night, the police said on Monday.

A police team was sent to the scene after they received a call regarding the matter. A senior officer said the deceased was identified as Santosh Kumar.

“He was found hanging from a loosely tied noose and had multiple injuries on his face and body when his wife arrived at the flat,” the officer said.

Child’s statement

Initially, it was suspected to be a case of suicide. However, the statements of the couple’s four-year-old daughter gave away the fact that it was a possible murder. The child told the police that two men had visited the flat in the evening and had got Santosh drunk. Gauri told the cops that she was asked to go to another room. Santosh was beaten up by the youth who allegedly used the wire of the table fan to strangulate him.

“We have sent the body for post-mortem. We are probing the case from all angles,” said the police.
