A day after he was allegedly thrashed by his neighbour over parking in central Delhi’s Baljit Nagar, a 55-year-old died on Friday.

Stating that Bhopal was diabetic and had other health issues, the police said they will wait for the post-mortem report to ascertain whether he died due to the assault or natural causes.

“On Thursday morning, Bhopal asked his neighbour Vipin not to park his two-wheeler in front of his house. They had an argument and Vipin assaulted him,” said an officer.

Bhopal collapsed in his house after the incident, police said, adding that he was taken to a hospital. He was referred to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where he died on Friday afternoon.

The police have registered a first information report on charges of causing hurt, wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation. “Vipin was arrested on these charges and later released on bail,” said a senior police officer.

“There were no visible injury marks. It is suspected that Bhopal died due to heath issues. The post-mortem will be conducted on Saturday,” the officer said.
