Accuses it of tyrannical behaviour

Delhi BJP MPs raised the issue of the ongoing sealing drive in the city in Parliament on Thursday and demanded the “dissolution” of the Supreme Court-mandated monitoring committee.

BJP MPs Meenakshi Lekhi and Manoj Tiwari demanded in the Lok Sabha that a parliamentary committee should look into all the issues related to the sealing drive.

They also demanded the “dissolution” of the present monitoring committee, which is overseeing the sealing drive in the national capital, a statement issued by the Delhi BJP said.

The monitoring committee constituted by the Supreme Court was found “violating” the verdicts of several courts, including the Delhi High Court, and most of the sealing was being carried out at the behest of the panel “without applying mind”, the statement quoted Ms. Lekhi as saying.

Thousands of shops were sealed and unauthorised structures violating the master plan of Delhi were demolished by the municipal corporations working under the directions of the monitoring committee, the statement added.
