In a major blow to the Delhi Police >regarding the raid on the Kerala House over rumours of beef , the report prepared by the city’s Animal Husbandry department has blamed the police for “not following the prescribed provisions.” The report which was submitted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday stated that instead of going to Kerela House to maintain law and order, it rather went there to probe if beef was being served.

“The Delhi Police team did not follow the prescribed provisions of the Delhi Agricultural Cattle Preservation Act by not informing the competent authority, i..e, Director, Animal Husbandry GNCTD or any Veterinary Officer authorised and ensuring their presence at the time of visit as per provisions of Section 2(b) read with Section 8 of DACP Act,” read the report.

It further stated that the Delhi police visited Kerela House not once but twice. About this, it observed, “During the first visit of the officials of the Delhi Police in the canteen of Kerela House, it was amply clear that no beef is served in the canteen of Kerela House and therefore subsequent visit of the officials of the Delhi Police just after 15-20 minutes was absolutely unethical.” It also mentioned that the Delhi police had no authority to enter, enquire and search the alleged presence of cow meat in the canteen.

A political row had erupted after Delhi police entered the Kerala House canteen on complaint that it served "beef", which was refuted by the state government and canteen authorities who asserted that only buffalo meat was served there.
