The BJP on Monday attacked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his remark on Delhi’s limitation on providing treatment to everyone in the country.

The party said the Chief Minister was insulting Purvanchalis and demanded an apology from him.

The Aam Aadmi Party hit back and said that they have always stood with the Purvanchalis and respected them. The party retorted that people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were attacked and forced to flee in BJP-ruled Gujarat.

Treatment in Capital

On Sunday, addressing a public function, Mr. Kejriwal had said, “One person from Bihar buys a ticket to Delhi for ₹500, returns after availing free treatment worth ₹5 lakh. While it makes us happy as they are people of our own country, but Delhi has its own capacity. How can Delhi cater to people of entire country? So, there is a necessity that situation improves across the country.”

Slamming the Chief Minister, BJP MP, Vijay Goel, said, “Kejriwal is holding the people from Bihar responsible for his failures. This is insulting and an irresponsible statement and we condemn it. Delhi BJP will not tolerate the insult to the Purvanchalis and people from other States. Our agitation will continue till Kejriwal apologises to the people of Delhi.”

No new hospitals

The BJP said that the people of Delhi will take revenge for this insult by voting in favour of the BJP in the Assembly elections.

“Not a single hospital has been constructed during the AAP rule in Delhi. Whatever hospital infrastructure is available in Delhi was created long ago. When he has not done anything then why is he giving such statements deliberately,” he said.

Mr. Goel said that that the former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had also termed the people from Bihar as burden on Delhi but subsequently she apologised for her mistake.

“Today, Kejriwal is speaking such thing when he himself goes to Bangalore for treatment,” the BJP leader said. “Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a simple statement that the people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar come to Delhi for better treatment because the Delhi government has improved the health sector of the State,” said AAP MP Sanjay Singh.

“The BJP has tortured its Poorvanchali leader from south Delhi. If they are really worried about the Purvanchalis they should work for the real development and not raise such absurd issues against the Delhi government,” said AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha.
