A student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has accused a fellow student of stalking her. According to the police, a case has been registered but the accused has not been arrested yet.

The victim and the accused are hostellers and are enrolled in different courses.

‘Repeatedly followed’

In her complaint, the victim has alleged that the man has often followed her to the hostel and made repeated attempts to speak to her despite her unwillingness to have any conversation.

‘Unwanted messages’

She has also accused him of sending messages via WhatsApp despite her having told him not to do so.

“She told us that he had been bothering her for months,” said a senior police officer.

On Monday, the victim approached the police and submit0ted a written complaint based on which a case of stalking was registered.

“The FIR was registered at Vasant Kunj North police station under Section 354-D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are on,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh.

The police added that they would record the victim’s statement under Section 64 of the Criminal Procedure Code and action against the accused will be taken based on that.
