Inderpuri drain: NGT seeks desilting report

June 15, 2017 01:08 am | Updated 01:08 am IST - New Delhi

The NGT on Wednesday directed the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Delhi Jal Board to submit a status report on the desilting of Inderpuri drain within three weeks.

The Tribunal had earlier issued notices to the Delhi government, Delhi Jal Board and north municipal corporation on alleged indiscriminate dumping of municipal solid waste into the drain.

The NGT direction has come on a plea filed by a resident, Bharat Bhushan Uppal, who highlighted the “apathetic attitude” of government officials and sought removal of municipal waste and cleaning of the drain, which has “become a breeding ground for mosquitoes”.

The matter has been listed for hearing on July 13.
