IIT-Delhi student found dead

An 18-year-old student of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi died after falling from the fifth floor of her hostel building, the police said on Tuesday.

The family said she was upset because of her studies. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Devender Arya said on November 8 at 6 p.m., they received a call from AIIMS trauma centre stating that a girl, who was admitted there, died during treatment.

Mr. Arya said the victim’s mother told the police that she got a call from her daughter on Friday after which she visited her in the campus and was with her till afternoon. In the evening, a security guard found the girl lying on the ground after which she was rushed to the hospital. The family has not alleged any foul play and inquest proceedings have been initiated. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem, the police said.
