Uploading excursion photos on Facebook cost a 21-year-old man dear when a team of Delhi police nabbed him from a market in Shimla for allegedly robbing two persons at gunpoint in a Delhi suburb.

The accused, Subham, along with a friend and an acquaintance, had executed the robbery on September 23 to finance the trip to Shimla, said the police on Thursday.

He was traced to Shimla after the complaint, Mohit Singh, approached the police claiming that he and his uncle were robbed by three persons of ₹27,000. He alleged that the miscreants barged into their shop at Rohini Sector-3 and looted ₹23,000 from his uncle, ₹1,500 from him and around ₹2,500 from a locker at gunpoint.

Loot at gunpoint

The incident took place around 9.30 p.m. when the victims were closing the shop, the police said. Two men entered the shop while one stood outside. They started thrashing Mr. Singh and his uncle and took away the cash at gunpoint, a police officer said.

Friends spill beans

During investigation, the police detained some friends of the accused. They told the police that Subham and his associates were in Shimla on a holiday and had also uploaded a photo on Facebook, the officer said.

“Subham, a resident of Pitampura, was arrested from Shimla. Efforts are being made to nab his associates,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) S.D. Mishra.

During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they had planned and executed the crime to finance their sightseeing trip to Shimla, the officer said.

Subham was arrested earlier as well in a robbery case, the officer added.
