The heat continued unabated in the city with the maximum temperature settling at 44.5 degrees Celsius. Dust storms, thundershowers and squall conditions that were likely to cool down the city on Sunday evening and provide some respite did not develop and the sky stayed clear. With clear skies predicted over the next 72 hours by the MeT Department, there seems to be no respite in store with maximum temperatures likely to hover around the 45 degrees Celsius mark.
Palam and Delhi University were the hottest parts of the city with both stations recording over 46 degrees Celsius. There was no respite from the heat after sunset as well with the minimum temperature settling at 27.5 degrees Celsius much above the normal temperature for this time of the year.
Today’s temperature equalled the temperature recorded on Saturday which was the hottest day of the season at 44.5 degrees Celsius and was five degrees above normal for this time of the year. The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.3 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the season’s average.
Power cuts added to the misery of Delhiites with some areas facing power cuts. B.S Vohra, a resident of Krishna Nagar said “Unscheduled load shedding has become a schedule now as we have been facing regular power cuts in Krishna Nagar.”
