Highlighting the defiant attitude of developers in the Millennium City towards the authorities, a status report by the Senior Town Planner (Gurgaon) regarding maintenance and infrastructure development in Mayfield Garden, a residential township spread over 300 acre, has revealed how the developer failed to comply with directions from the authorities and did not carry out development works despite repeated reminders.
“Defiant attitude”
In a letter to Director General of the Department of Town and Country Planning, the Senior Town Planner has said that the Deputy Commissioner had on July 23 directed the developer to carry out the repair of roads within seven days, but the developer failed to comply with the directions.
“The Office carried out the latest survey and reported that the condition of the roads is still the same, i.e., no repair work has been carried out. This shows the defiant attitude of the coloniser, as he is not caring to comply with the instructions of the authorities,” stated the letter, written a fortnight ago.
On the issue of electrical infrastructure, the letter added that the “coloniser has failed to comply with the assurance given by himself only regarding construction of 66 KV ESS. Regarding the construction of the community sites, it is mentioned that out of the two Nursery Schools in Block-C and Block-F, which as per own submission of the coloniser were to be made functional before September 2014, only one has been made functional”.
The letter further said that three more community sites, including a community centre, were not completed and occupation certificates not obtained.
“I spoke to Town and Country Planning Principal Secretary Raghvendra Rao in this connection. He has assured action against the builder,” said Colonel (retd.) Dharam Vir Yadav, the senior vice-president of the Joint Action Forum of Residents’ Association.
Most licensed colonies in Millennium City do not have adequate civic and electrical infrastructure and maintenance mechanism. Several residents’ welfare associations have complained to the authorities concerned, but in vain.
