Govt resident doctors to go on strike today

Resident doctors of Delhi government hospitals will go on strike on Wednesday from 8 a.m. demanding immediate implementation of salary payment as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

The announcement was made after talks with the Delhi Health Department officials on Tuesday evening. Keeping patient care in mind, only routine services will be stopped. However, emergency services will be working said the resident doctors.

Services in Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, Sanjay Gandhi Medical Hospital and Hindu Rao Hospital are likely to be worst hit.

Amit Chopra, Resident Doctors’ Association president at University College of Medical Sciences, which is attached to the GTB Hospital, told DTMT: “We have been given assurance of 7th CPC for the last three years. We still get salary as per 6th Central Pay Commission, that too not in time. Sometimes we do not get salary for three months.”

Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association president Sumedh Sandhanshiv said doctors will go on strike on December 19.
