Goel stages fast against ‘failure’ to curb pollution

The BJP Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel on Friday sat on a fast to protest against the Delhi government’s alleged failure to curb air pollution in the Capital. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma and BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain were among those who sat in solidarity with Mr. Goel.

Mr. Tiwari, accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of “playing with the lives” of school children, and claimed that the Delhi government decided to shut schools due to the “pressure” from the BJP.

“I am fasting because of two reasons. First, to appeal to the people of Delhi to cooperate in reducing pollution levels and secondly to put pressure on the Kejriwal government to take some action. The Kejriwal government did not do anything for reducing pollution levels in the last five years but it is time that they wake up and take some action,” Mr. Goel alleged
