Four persons have been arrested for allegedly carrying out an armed robbery at a pizza outlet in outer Delhi’s Nangloi in the early hours of Monday, the police said on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Seju P. Kuruvilla said that the accused have been identified as Sonu, Banty, Sumit and Sachin. Sonu works as a sweeper in the outlet and Sumit and Sachin are shooters of Neeraj Bawania gang.

The police said that they the police control room received a call and was informed that three persons entered the pizza outlet and robbed ₹1,50,800 cash at gunpoint.

During investigation, the police obtained the list of employees and scanned their call detail records. “Activities of Sonu, the sweeper, were found suspicious as he had deleted his call history. He was thoroughly interrogated after which he admitted that he, along with his friend Banty and two others had committed the robbery,” Mr. Kuruvilla said.

The three were subsequently arrested after traps were laid at their suspected hideouts, the police said adding that Sachin and Sumit were planning to go to Manali to celebrate the new year.

Sonu had allegedly given a spare key to Banty. The three then robbed the cash at gunpoint.

The police also said that Sachin and Sumit were found to be members of Neeraj Bawania gang who have a murder case registered against them at Najafgarh police station. “Sachin has three criminal cases registered against him and Sumit has five,” Mr. Kuruvilla also said. The police have recovered a countrymade pistol, two live cartridges, ₹1,03,500 cash and articles purchased with the robbed booty.
