A foetus was found in the toilet of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Sunday night, the police said on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma said that 25-week-old foetus was found in the RML Hospital’s toilet and a crime team has inspected the spot.

“The cleaning staff found the aborted foetus after which police were informed and its medico-legal certificate was prepared,” he said. No one claimed the foetus and the mother has not been found, they added.

A case under Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at North Avenue Police Station.

The police have begun the probe and are trying to identify the mother.
