Five wanted criminals, including the son of alleged gangster Vicky Tyagi who was shot dead in 2015, were arrested on Monday, the police said.
The Additional Director General of Police (Meerut zone), Prashant Kumar, said that acting on a tip-off, the officers cordoned the Rajnagar extension area on July 14 and intercepted a car.
No resistance
The five wanted criminals then surrendered without any resistance, he added.
The arrested have been identified as Amar Singh (24) a sharpshooter, Dharmendra, Vicky Tyagi’s son Arpit, Kuldeep and Anuj, the police officer said.
Amar was carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh on him while Dharmendra had a bounty of ₹50,000, Mr. Kumar said.
Murder, robbery
During interrogation, Kuldeep confessed to have shot Punjabi singer Navjot Singh in May as the latter had resisted his bid to rob the car.
They also confessed to have robbed ₹13 lakh from a milk distributor in Indirapuram, the ADGP said.
A carbine, four pistols, a large number of cartridges and two looted cars were seized from them, the police said.
