A father-son duo was arrested for murdering two men whom they blamed for the death of a family member, the police said on Friday.

Lallu Ram, 55 and Pawan, 24, felt that the victim, Ramcharan, was responsible for Udai’s death, the former’s son, in late December last year. Udai had died in a road accident while returning from Ramcharan’s birthday party.

“On May 14, Lallu Ram and Pawan had intercepted Ramcharan and his associate Lakhan Lal at Rajendra Nagar before proceeding to murder both of them; while the former had died on the spot, the latter died during treatment,” said a senior police officer.

According to the police, several raids were conducted at the possible hideouts of the accused duo in the national capital region and other States but to no avail.

Technical surveillance was finally mounted on the basis of which the duo was finally apprehended from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.

“Lallu Ram disclosed that his elder son, Udai, had died while coming back from a birthday party organised by Ramcharan on December 26 last year at the latter’s residence in Inderpuri. At the said party, Udai had an argument with Ramcharan, Lakhan Lal and others, following which he left only to die in a road accident,” said the officer.

“Moreover, after his death, Udai’s wife left the house of her in-laws and started living with her parents who are tenants of Ramcharan. Despite several requests by him and his family members, Lallu Ram has claimed, she was not ready to return in her in-law’s house,” the officer said. This, the officer added, was why Lallu Ram and Pawan, sought revenge and executed the plot to eliminate Ramcharan and his associate.
