False charges were slapped on me, says Nisha Singh

Issuing a statement in the wake of the report of the NHRC on her complaint, Nisha Singh, Ward 30 councillor, said, “Gurgaon Police, under the current Commissioner, seems to have become an organised extortion gang. They are more perpetrators of crime than protector of justice and they try to cover up for their failures and activities through frequent Public Relations drives. More than a PR savvy force, we need a force that respects the rule of the law,” said Ms. Singh, in a statement to media.

“On May 15, the Gurgaon Police took objection to my filming their activities in a demolition drive in my ward… They snatched away my phone and physically assaulted me,” the statement read.Ms. Singh said that if the DGP failed to take appropriate action following NHRC report she will seek the help of judiciary. When contacted, the Gurgaon Police said that they were yet to receive a copy of the NHRC order.
