A former MLA’s luggage was allegedly stolen from X-ray scanner installed at the VIP entry gate of New Delhi railway station, the police said on Sunday.

The incident was reported on January 5 at 3.40 p.m. when Satyaveer Munna, from Uttar Pradesh, was about to board a train to Prayagraj.

In his complaint, he stated that he entered the railway station from Ajmeri Gate side — VIP entry — and kept his trolley for checking in the X-ray scanner at the entry gate.

When he reached to pick his baggage, the victim could not find it. The bag had around ₹15,000 in cash, clothes and documents. He immediately reported the matter at the New Delhi Railway police station.

An FIR has been registered under Indian Penal Code Section 379 (punishment for theft), the police said. The case is under investigation, they said, adding that footage from CCTV cameras are being scanned.
