EDMC issues over 27,000 challans

The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) issued 27,887 notices over violations of Solid Waste Management (SWM) by-laws, construction and dust violations, between January and July this year.

EDMC collected ₹2.38 crore in fines, stated the release issued by it. Additionally, a collection of ₹91.60 lakh of fines is said to be pending.

Out of the notices issued, the EDMC Commissioner, Ranbir Singh said 24,612 were issued for lack of sanitation, 126 for garbage burning, 1,916 for SWM violations and 1,233 for construction dust.

The corporation is engaged in increasing awareness to ensure cleanliness in east Delhi, he added.
