The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) is set to launch a gender sensitisation cell that aims to create a safe atmosphere for people of all genders, especially women and transgender students.

The objective of the cell is to represent students who suffer from sexual harassment or gender discrimination, and provide them with legal aid and advise. The cell will hold awareness sessions for students and interact with university authorities on these.

DUSU president Rocky Tuseed said, “DU is for everyone and we want to send a message across that female students are as safe as everyone else.”

The cell, which will have the DUSU president as its chairman, a convener and two co-conveners responsible for its functioning, will work alongside the National Commission for Women, the Delhi Commission for Women, Women’s Development Cells operating within colleges and sexual harassment committees of all colleges of the university.
