Elections to the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) and the Central Council of various colleges and departments will take place on September 12, the university announced on Wednesday.

The university set the last date for filing nomination papers, along with a demand draft of ₹500, as September 4. Scrutiny of the papers and publication of the nominated candidates will take place on the same day.

Following this, individuals will be allowed to withdraw their nomination papers by September 5, on which date the final list of candidates will also be published. Candidates for DUSU election are required to submit their papers to the appointed Chief Election Officer at the Conference Centre while candidates for the Central Councils are required to submit their nominations to the respective college or department.

The model code of conduct for the elections released by the university earlier on its website has capped the amount an individual can spend on campaigning to ₹5,000 and has issued other directions which disallow printing of posters and defacement of property among others.

Voting for day classes will take place between 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 12 while for evening classes it will take place between 3 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. The date and venue of counting of votes is yet to be announced.
