Over 10 days after five workers died while cleaning a sewage tank in west Delhi’s DLF Capital Greens, the police have made two more arrests in the case.

Earlier, they had arrested three persons in connection with the case.

DCP(West) Monika Bhardwaj said the two accused have been identified as D.N. Mishra and Bharat Raj Verma.

“Mr. Mishra is a senior manager cum property manager who headed the site. Mr. Verma is an assistant manager. Both are employees of Jones Lang LaSalle [JLL] and were closely supervising the operations of the Sewage Treatment Plant,” the officer said. The police had first arrested Ajay Chaudhary, supervisor at JLL. On September 15, they arrested two more accused — Praveen and Digambar. Praveen was the firm Unnati’s director while Digambar was a supervisor. Real estate developer DLF had given work contract to a firm called JLL who had further given the STP contract to Unnati.

Five workers — Vishal, Raja, Umesh, Pankaj and Sharfaraz — died after while cleaning the sewage tank. A case under Section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers And Their Rehabilitation Act was registered.
