Differently-abled sportspersons felicitated

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday felicitated 15 differently-abled sportspersons who won medals at the Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 2. Minister for Social Welfare Sandeep Kumar was also present.

The sportspersons won seven gold, two silver and 15 bronze medals at the games. In total, 6,500 sportspersons from 165 countries participated in the games, which featured 25 sporting events. Of the 15 medal winners, eight are females.

The sportspersons were felicitated with a cash incentive of Rs.10 lakh each for gold medal winners, Rs.6 lakh each for silver medal winners and Rs.4 lakh each for bronze medal winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kejriwal congratulated the sportspersons saying: “We are so happy for all of you. You have made India proud. I also congratulate the parents, trainers, teachers and all those who worked to make this happen.”
