A day after The Hindu reported about nursery admissions under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category getting paralysed due to the upcoming elections, the Directorate of Education (DOE) has extended the time limit of admissions till March 31.
The DOE extended the time limit by issuing a circular. It directed the private unaided schools not to refuse admission to EWS category students till March 31.
“It is understood that due to the election process, the Revenue Department machinery is extremely pre-occupied in discharging functions related to elections. Therefore, the process of issue of requisite certificates might get delayed. In these circumstances, all the unaided private recognised schools are directed not to refuse admission/acceptance of forms from the applicants belonging to EWS/DG category for the academic session 2015-16, till March 31, 2015,” the circular issued by the DOE read.
The circular added that the applicants would have to produce the receipt of having applied for the relevant certificates in the Revenue Department at the time of submission of the admission forms.
