The Delhi Development Authority will soon be launching an e-auction scheme for multi-use commercial development across the national capital, senior DDA officials said on Wednesday.
The urban body is currently in the process of scanning various presentations being made by interested parties for the development work, said officials while adding that the DDA is aiming to create “iconic structures” in the Capital which will include shopping arenas as well as multiplexes.
“As of now, certain plots in Peeragarhi, Karkarduma, Mayur Vihar and Rohini, among others have been identified. These are vacant plots that cover huge areas measuring approximately 30-35 acres each,” said Commissioner Land Disposal, Subu R.
“The aim is to provide arenas where a family can go for entertainment purposes and we are looking forward for such developments. They will be iconic structures in Delhi for shopping as well as entertainment for people,” he added.
Proximity to metro
While selecting the areas, the land-owning agency has also kept in consideration proximity to metro stations.
“The expression of interest has already been launched and the inputs from various players are being taken. The areas selected are also close to metro stations which will facilitate general public to be able to access these commercial hubs, once developed,” said Mr. Subu.
Meanwhile, in the four phases of e-auctions conducted by the urban body, approximately ₹2,500 crore was collected, said senior officials.
Currently, the fifth phase of the e-auction is under way, for which rates for institutional plots was reduced by 33%. The move came after the DDA failed to receive bids for institutional plots. While in the first and third phase, no bids were received for these plots, in the second and fourth phases, the DDA received three bids for a total of 65 institutional plots that were put on offer.
“The rates for the institutional plots have been reduced to make the offers more attractive. The reduced rates are applicable for the fifth phase which is currently on,” said an official.
The first phase of e-auction of vacant residential, commercial, industrial and institutional plots were conducted by the DDA in January. After having received over ₹900 crore through the first phase, the land owning agency has conducted subsequent phases where plots, including for small shops, kiosks and mobile towers, have been offered for auctions.
In the fourth phase that was conducted last month, the urban body received 72 bids for 80 residential plots which were on offer.
