On apprehensions of shoddy flats being doled out by the DDA, vice-chairman Balvinder Kumar said all efforts would be made to deliver good quality flats and denied that any of the flats have been constructed on disputed land.

When asked if the site in Rohini sector 34 and 35 where 10,875 LIG flats are being built is a disputed one, Mr. Kumar said it was incorrect.

Some of the land in Rohini was under dispute as villagers were not ready to give up their right to the DDA. However, Mr. Kumar said no flat was being constructed on such land.

“Whatever disputed land is there in Rohini it concerns plots and not flats,” he told The Hindu , adding that the plots formed part of a previous housing scheme.

He was also asked if the condition of these flats would be like that of some DDA flats in posh Vasant Kunj area where there is seepage and many allottees are complaining of uninhabitable condition. “We have always given the best to the people,” he said.

He said, “The DDA is a sarkari sansthan (government organisation). It is not perfect. Fir bhi koshish karenge (we will still try our best) to give the best this time.”
