The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Friday said it has approached the NAB India Centre for Blind Women and Disability Studies to provide assistance to the visually impaired woman who was allegedly raped in Karol Bagh two weeks back.
The DCW chairperson has urged the NAB Centre director to admit the 20-year-old woman “immediately”.
‘Withdraw complaint’
“The woman was deeply scared after her uncle committed suicide on Thursday and was planning to withdraw her police complaint. The DCW chief assured all support to the survivor, who has agreed to fight the case,” DCW stated.
Further, it said the victim’s mother has been offered employment by the NAB Centre.
“Considering the financial condition of the family, the NAB director has offered a job to the victim’s mother. The DCW chief will meet the family on Saturday to finalise her rehabilitation,” read the statement issued.
On May 10, the commission had granted a compensation of ₹25,000 to the victim. “Her [the victim’s] jhuggi was burnt in October due to which they did not have a door anymore. Taking advantage of the situation, a man entered the jhuggi and raped her. The commission allotted immediate compensation to ensure that a proper door is installed in the jhuggi,” the DCW had said.
