An alleged criminal was shot at in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Sunday night, the police said on Monday.
The victim, Iqbal Qureshi, has sustained four bullet wounds on his left leg, right hand and abdomen, they added.
“The Police Control Room [PCR] received a call around 9 p.m. regarding a shoot-out near shop number six in the main market of Malviya Nagar. Following this, a police team rushed to the spot and took the victim to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences [AIIMS],” said a police officer.
‘Named suspects’
The victim claimed that two bike-borne men opened fire at him. Also, Qureshi named two men as suspects in the case.
A case was registered accordingly under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.
The police arrested one of the accused, Anuj Gulia, late on Sunday night and also seized a weapon from his possession.
They have formed six teams to trace the other accomplice, identified as one Ashu.
‘Out of danger’
Meanwhile, the victim is said to be out of danger.
The police suspect a personal enmity between the victim and the others to be the most possible reason behind the shoot-out.
