A Delhi police constable and two others have been arrested for assaulting a 17-year-old boy after he refused to clean the floor of Dwarka (South) police station on November 7, on the occasion of Diwali, the police said on Thursday.

Acting on the complaint of the teenager who was thrashed inside the barrack of Dwarka (South) police station, three persons including a policeman have been arrested, DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said.

Cop’s friends

The arrested persons were identified as Kushal, Sandeep and Praveen Kumar.

Mr. Kumar is a constable posted with a PCR unit whereas the other two were his friends who lives in Palam Colony.

A police officer said the victim had recorded the statement under Section 164 of the CrPC before a magistrate on November 14.

The victim stated that he was forcibly taken to the police station by Kushal and Sandeep, where Mr. Kumar had asked him to clean the floor. When the boy refused to do the task, he was subjected to corporal punishment.

The three accused thrashed the teenager when he accidentally spilled water on the floor.

During investigation, it was found that the teenager was not sexually assaulted and the charges under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences [POCSO] will be dropped in the FIR registered in the case.

However, Section 342 (wrongful confinement) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code will remain in the FIR.

Judicial custody

The accused have been send to judicial custody. “We have taken swift action in the case after getting complaint from the victim. An FIR was registered on the same day and the accused persons were arrested,” added a police officer.
