The Delhi Congress, on Wednesday, blamed both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government at the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party-led (AAP) Delhi Government for what it called a Constitutional ‘crisis’ that had gripped the Capital over the last few days.
The crisis triggered over the issue of the appointment of a Chief Secretary between the BJP and the AAP, the Congress alleged had been ‘artificially created’ so that the attention of the people may be diverted from their own basic problems.
“There is shortage of electricity and water in Delhi and long power cuts. There are many areas in Delhi where there is no water and this is what is happening in the background,” said Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken.
Mr. Maken said a note dated May 13 was sent by Deputy Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung in which the name of current acting Chief Secretary (CS) Shakuntala Gamlin had been included while there was an objection on the name of SP Singh.
Since Mr. Sisodia himself had suggested her appointment as acting CS, Mr. Maken asked, then why was Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal making a hue and cry about her actual appointment in the first place.
