A private school bus driver was killed allegedly by his helper over a borrowed phone on Saturday morning in north-east Delhi’s Netaji Subhash Place, the police said. The accused has been arrested, they said.
DCP (North West) Aslam Khan said the victim has been identified as Joginder. Chooda Maniaryal (23), from Nepal, worked as the victim’s helper in the bus, the officer said.
Hit with fire extinguisher
The police received a call around 11.30 a.m. regarding a murder near Rani Bagh junction.
On reaching the spot, it was found that Maniaryal had hit Joginder on his head with a fire extinguisher installed in the bus. He was nabbed by a constable who was posted at Rani Bagh police station.
Meanwhile, Joginder was rushed to Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The accused allegedly told the police that Joginder had borrowed his phone on Friday. On asking him to return it, the victim allegedly denied. An argument ensued between the two which turned violent, the police said.
A case on charges of murder has been registered and further investigation is under way, they added.
