BJP hits back at AAP, Congress on ‘mole’ charge

January 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday hit back at the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress for their charges against its party’s Delhi chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi.

While the AAP alleged that Ms. Bedi and Minister V.K. Singh were BJP “moles” in the Indian Against Corruption movement, the Congress said she selectively targeted the Congress during the movement, which was acting as the “B-team” of the BJP.

Countering the charges, BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said both the parties were attacking Ms. Bedi and Mr. Singh dues to “lack” of leadership.

“The mole-mole game”

“A new game has begun in Delhi. This is the mole-mole game, which exposes the lack of confidence of the AAP and the Congress. It exposes their depression, frustration and confusion ever since Ms. Bedi was declared the BJP’s CM face.”

“Both the parties are making irrelevant statements. If the anti-graft movement was propped up by the BJP and the RSS, as alleged by the Congress, then why did the BJP not extend support to the AAP government in Delhi? And how will the Congress explain its leader Sheila Dikshit offering support to the AAP? Who is a bigger leader — Ms. Dikshit or Ajay Maken, and why is there dichotomy in their statements?” Mr. Patra added.

He also asked the AAP to explain why did it not expose Ms. Dikshit as promised.

“Does that not mean there is a clandestine agreement between the Congress and the AAP?”
