BEML Limited has received Rs 925 crore from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRCL) for supply of 136 intermediate metro cars.

On execution of the order slated to commence in September 2012 and be completed by December 2013, the existing 4-car train sets of Delhi Metro at its phase-I would get converted to 6-car train sets, Bangalore-headquartered BEML said in a statement.

Intermediate cars are designed and developed by the R&D wing of BEML to upgrade the passenger-carrying capacity of the existing metro cars of DMRCL. These intermediate cars have undergone various rigorous technical tests of DMRCL and came out successfully, the statement said.
