Balmiki community leader joins AAP

Was a BJP worker, says party

A leader of a Balmiki community outfit who had been a BJP worker, Karm Singh Karma, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday.

In a statement, the AAP said that Mr. Karma was the president of the Balmiki Samaj (Delhi). At AAP convener and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, Mr. Karma received the party’s membership and was welcomed by Mr. Kejriwal in the presence of the party’s Delhi convenor Gopal Rai, AAP North-West Parliamentary seat in-charge Guggan Singh and North-East Delhi in-charge Dilip Pandey.

Sources in the party said that Mr. Karma had been associated with the BJP.

Delhi BJP sources said that though Mr. Karma had been a worker, he had not held any posts within the party.
