At 40.8 degrees it was season’s hottest day

It was a hot and dusty Tuesday in the Capital as the maximum temperature went above the normal for this time of the year by two notches to settle at 40.8 degrees Celsius.

This has been the hottest day of the season so far, according to information provided by the Meteorological Department. April 19 had earlier recorded the highest maximum temperature at 40.6 degrees Celsius after which thundershowers had cooled the city down.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.3 degrees Celsius which was four degrees lower than normal. The MeT Department had predicted the temperature to rise this week, and that the maximum on May 6 would be 41 degrees Celsius and minimum 22 degrees Celsius
