Delhiites would be able to register complaints about potholes on roads across the city using a mobile application to be launched within two to three months, Public Works Department Minister Satyendar Jain said on Tuesday.
Mr. Jain said that the PWD would be the nodal agency to coordinate the repair of potholes on all roads, whether its own 1,260-km-long network or those owned by other agencies like municipal corporations and the DDA. On Monday, at a meeting chaired by Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal, the PWD was named the nodal agency.
Weekly updates
After feeding in the details of the ownership of each road, the PWD-monitored app would send complaints to the engineers and departments concerned for the repair. “Potholes lead to accidents as well as pollution due to the flying dust. With the app, we will know the exact status of roads and the agency responsible. We will issue weekly updates on the status of the work,” Mr. Jain said.
Referring to potholes on PWD roads, Mr. Jain said a report as on Monday found that there were 50 potholes as there was ongoing digging by other agencies. He added that with the app the repair would be timebound, as information about the pending works was shared with the public. The target would be to repair potholes in 24 hours, with major repairs given more time, he said.
